Chandelier Farms

A white modern barn, a wall of glass and chandeliers inside.

Chandelier Farms is a barn venue on rolling countryside in Terrell, about 45 minutes east of downtown Dallas. The main barn is crisp white board-and-batten with a dark timber gable, tall X-braced doors and French doors, and one end is a two-story wall of floor-to-ceiling glass with the chandeliers that give the venue its name hanging inside. Around it are a gravel courtyard, wide lawns, a big old oak, a putting green and open pasture. We photographed T + N's western-styled engagement session here, and it is one of the cleanest backdrops in East DFW.

What Makes It Photograph

White is the point. The bright barn facade works like a giant studio backdrop: it bounces light back onto faces, keeps skin tones true, and makes any color you wear look saturated. A magenta satin gown and cowboy hats look bold against it, and all-black outfits look graphic and editorial. The glass wall is the second signature. From the lawn it mirrors the sky and tree line, and the chandeliers inside read as soft points of light in the reflection. The oak gives you shade and texture, and the putting green and pasture add a wide, open country frame.

The Best Photo Spots

The front courtyard, centered on the French doors and barn doors, is the hero shot: symmetrical, clean and good at any time of day. The glass wall is best when the sky has some clouds to reflect. Under the oak is the shade spot for midday sessions and close, intimate frames. The garden path and walkways are made for walking and motion photos. The putting green edge, lined with river rock, opens onto pasture for a quiet final frame.

What to Plan For

A white barn is bright. In full midday sun it can be too bright, so plan portraits on the facade for early morning, late afternoon, or a lightly overcast day, and use the oak for shade in between. The gravel courtyard is beautiful but hard on stilettos; block heels or boots make sense. Venue listings describe a main barn of about 6,900 square feet with floor-to-ceiling windows, an open-air chapel, a pond, a fire pit and a putting green, and say the venue hosts weddings, quinceañeras, engagement parties and photo sessions. Confirm current capacity, pricing and policies directly with the venue.
