The fit
Built for fewer people, not less care.
Reframe
01A backyard wedding can be the most refined choice.
The wrong language makes backyard weddings sound casual or budget. The right client sees something different: privacy, family history, control over the guest list, and a setting that does not have to be rented to feel important.
Light
02Outdoor private-property weddings need strong technical judgment.
Texas light changes quickly. Shade, ceremony angle, dinner timing, and portrait windows all matter. We help shape coverage around the property so the photographs feel intentional.
Design
03Small details carry more weight outdoors.
Florals, table settings, heirlooms, landscape, architecture, and family movement are all part of the gallery. We photograph the scene without letting decor replace the people.
Privacy
04Guests should feel like guests.
A private backyard estate wedding works because people are comfortable. Our presence stays calm, observant, and low-profile so the room never feels staged.
Venue intelligence
Inside the rooms planners actually book.
A working photographer's notes — light direction by season, suite recommendations, hidden corners, and what not to schedule. Update after every shoot.

Highland Park / University Park · estate
Park Cities private estate
Generic shorthand for Highland Park / University Park backyard estate weddings. Light, layout, and access depend entirely on the lot.
Best light
- Apr–Jun Garden ceremony 6:30 PM, portraits 7:00–7:45 PM
- Oct–Nov Garden ceremony 5:00 PM, portraits 5:30–6:15 PM
Ceremony / Room
Park Cities backyards range from 0.5 to 3 acres. Anything over 75 guests requires tent rental and a generator for catering — coordinate early. Pool patios make the strongest ceremony altars without additional decor.
Getting ready
For backyard estate weddings the bridal suite is the primary bedroom. Scout the room a week before — light direction varies by lot orientation and tree coverage. The home itself becomes the green room, the dressing room, and the gallery.
Hidden corners
- The kitchen island for ring/details when staged before catering load-in
- The home library or study for grandparent portraits — warm and quiet
- The driveway gate / front-porch entrance — under-photographed but emotionally rich
What not to do
- Do not start setup before the catering tent goes up — once tent stakes are in, you cannot move
- Do not assume neighbor consent for portraits beyond property lines
Turtle Creek / Oak Lawn · mansion
Arlington Hall at Lee Park
Greek Revival mansion in Lee Park. Architecture does the lifting — 110-guest ceremonies, Turtle Creek grounds, no production needed.
Best light
- Mar–Apr Veranda 5:30–6:45 PM
- Oct–Nov Veranda 4:45–6:00 PM
Ceremony / Room
Great Hall seats 110 for ceremony; Loggia and Veranda give ceremony-to-cocktail flow without an awkward room change. Late fall through early spring is the best outdoor window.
Getting ready
There is no on-site bridal suite — getting-ready happens off-property (most often at Rosewood Mansion across Turtle Creek). Plan a 20-minute first-look window on the West Porch before guests arrive.
Hidden corners
- The marble main-floor staircase from the Loggia — east-facing, soft morning light
- The mature oak grove behind the Veranda — golden hour couple portraits without a car ride
- The Music Room piano corner — warm tungsten ring shots after dark
What not to do
- Do not plan amplified music outdoors after 10 PM — Lee Park noise ordinance is enforced
- Do not promise parking — Turtle Creek street parking only, no valet in base rate
East Dallas / White Rock Lake · garden
Dallas Arboretum
66 acres on White Rock Lake. DeGolyer Estate lawn at golden hour is the Arboretum wedding picture.
Best light
- Mar–May DeGolyer Estate lawn 6:00–7:30 PM
- Sep–Nov DeGolyer Estate lawn 5:00–6:15 PM
Ceremony / Room
DeGolyer Estate Lawn faces White Rock Lake and is the highest-impact ceremony site. Camp House for indoor backup. Sunbursts on the west lawn between 5–6 PM are the signature Arboretum frame.
Getting ready
No on-site bridal suite — couples arrive prepared. DeGolyer House interior serves as the green room during ceremony transitions.
Hidden corners
- The Crepe Myrtle Allée — dappled light, off-axis processional shots
- The Magnolia Glade — quiet corner for couple portraits during cocktail
- The DeGolyer fountain courtyard — symmetric architectural frame
What not to do
- Do not assume access to closed-off seasonal exhibits (Pumpkin Village, Chihuly) — these are gated and timed
- Do not bring drones — FAA restricted airspace near Love Field flight path

Questions
Before the first call.
Is a backyard estate wedding different from a regular backyard wedding?+
Yes. The phrase is intentionally more specific. Backyard estate weddings usually involve a private home or family property where the setting, design, and privacy are part of the luxury experience.
Can you help us choose the ceremony spot on the property?+
Yes. We can advise on light, background, guest placement, and timing from a photography perspective.
Do you photograph evening outdoor dinners?+
Yes. We work with available light and subtle flash when needed so the dinner still feels atmospheric and natural.
When home is the venue, the photographs should feel personal.
Send the address area, guest count, and whether the ceremony is indoor, outdoor, or both.
