Adriatica Village

A Croatian fishing village, reconstructed in McKinney. Yes, really.

Adriatica is an 80-acre development in McKinney modeled on a Croatian coastal village. Stone bell tower, harbor, pastel buildings, cobblestone streets. For micro weddings and elopements, it's a location that looks like nowhere else in Texas — which is exactly why it works. You land photographs that look destination without leaving the DFW metro.

How It Photographs

The harbor and the bell tower are the two flagship backdrops. Early morning and late evening give you empty streets — during the day Adriatica is an active commercial district with restaurants, so timing matters. Golden hour on the water is the single strongest shot location, and the bell tower at blue hour gives you an image most couples will make their cover photo. The cobblestones and stone facades photograph warm in any season.

Best Use Cases

Adriatica works best for elopements (2–10 guests), intimate ceremony followed by dinner at one of the on-site restaurants (Urban Flats, Eighty-Six, Vitalia), and engagement sessions. We don't recommend it for full-guest-count weddings because there's no single private venue large enough — the magic of Adriatica is the village itself, which you share with the public. For larger groups, consider it as a portrait location before or after a ceremony elsewhere.

Permits and Access

Adriatica is privately-owned but open to the public. For engagement sessions, no permit is needed. For ceremonies, you'll need to coordinate with St. Paul Chapel (the on-site wedding chapel, ~60 guest capacity) or book a restaurant for a private dinner. Commercial photography permits are required for larger wedding shoots — we handle this for Small Hour clients.

Adriatica Village FAQ

Can you get married at Adriatica?+

Yes. St. Paul Chapel on the Adriatica campus hosts ceremonies up to about 60 guests. Several restaurants also offer private dining rooms for rehearsal dinners or small receptions. For a full-scale wedding with dance floor and large guest count, Adriatica is not the right fit — but for an intimate ceremony and dinner, it is ideal.

Do you need a permit for engagement photos at Adriatica?+

No — casual engagement sessions are welcome without a permit. Commercial photography with large crews, props, or extended setups may require coordination with property management.

Is Adriatica walkable from parking?+

Yes. Multiple parking lots surround the village, all within a 2–3 minute walk of the harbor and chapel. The village itself is entirely walkable and photographs beautifully because of that.
